Miktex Update - Danach geht nichts mehr...

Hallo zusammen!

Gestern habe ich etwas gutes tun wollen und habe mein Miktex-Paket
(Windows XP System) auf den neuesten Stand gebracht (von 2.2 auf 2.4).
Mein Problem dabei ist, daß seitdem mein Latex nicht mehr funktionieren mag.
Wenn ich in /miktex/bin latex.exe starte, erscheint:

Früher begann das mit LaTeX und nicht e-TeX....

Nun bekomme ich, wenn ich ein Dokument kompilieren will, die unten
stehende Meldung.
Das Dokument jedoch ist vollkommen in Ordnung. Starte ich es mit LaTeX
unter Linux oder mit der alten Miktex Version auf meinem Notebook, so
läuft es ohne Problem.

Wer weiß Rat?

Hast Du wirklich _alle_ aktualisierbaren Pakete aktualisiert oder aus
Zeit-/Kosten-/Wasauchimmergründen irgendetwas nicht zur Aktualisierung
ausgewählt?

Das sieht alles sehr komisch aus. Hast Du nach der Aktualisierung die
Format neu erzeugt (über den MiKTeX-Options-Dialog)? Ich kann mir
vorstellen, dass kaputte Format lustige Ausgaben zur Folge haben können.

Alle. Auch der Update Wizard behauptet, es gäbe nichts mehr zum Updaten.

Ich habe danach die Filename Database refreshed. Danach wollte ich die
Formats updaten, doch da werden Fehlermeldungen erzeugt.
Es ist immer wieder das gleiche Problem:

Welches Dateidatum haben bei dir die Dateien preload.cfg und preload.ltx?

Bei mir sind beide vom 09.03.2004 22:04.

Vergiss diese Frage. Wie ich gerade gesehen habe, wird es daran wohl
nicht liegen.

Lösche mal die Datei preload.ltx und erzeuge die Formate neu.
Vielleicht klappt es dann.
